Ganesh Himal Trading has an excellent selection of
accessories to choose from. Our bags come in wool,
cotton, recycled silk, recycled tires and hemp. They are
functional, stylish and durable. All bags have double stitched
seams, strong wide straps and cotton lining. Some of
our bags are made using a thick striped weave that is
traditionally used in Tibetan bags that are loaded onto
yaks! Other cotton bags incorporate the beautiful
traditional Dhaka fabric woven at a women’s
development project. Wool bags are made using the
Tibetan felted wool “nambu”. A Muslim family in
Kathmandu adds beautiful embroidery to select styles
of our wool and velvet bags.

Our recycled silk sari bags, hats and scarves are made
from recycled scraps of silk saris that have been spun
into a soft and colorful yarn. These accessories are
some of Ganesh Himal’s most popular products. The
women who knit these silk items are working toward
creating financial stability for themselves and their
children by being fair trade partners with Ganesh
Himal Trading.

We have also created many unique small bags and hats
using the colorful scraps of hand woven and block
printed fabric left over from making our clothing.
These bits and pieces would otherwise be wasted and
thrown away.

Our hemp bags and hats are made from the wild hemp
of western Nepal. Hemp production has been a valuable
economic asset for villages in Western Nepal and we
seek to design more of it into our products every year.
The tailors who make our hemp bags receive fair wages
as well as benefits such as bonuses, paid leave and
medical expenses.
